Once the ceremonies have been completed, Lord Meadows indicates for his guests to sit, and servants carrying food and drink enter the hall. At the head table, raised above the other guests, Lord Bromely sits with his son and heir, Elwood, to his left. Elwood’s young wife, Rayley, sits to her husband’s left.
On the right of the Lord is his daughter, the fair and beautiful Lysa Meadows. Next to her is the elderly Lord Androw of Ashford. Conspicuously absent, however, is the young Meadows girl’s betrothed, and this has set the hall abuzz. The Festival of Roses is, for many of the attendees, the only chance to catch up and exchange gossip for the entire year, and many were eagerly anticipating seeing the Tyrell noble who had agreed to marry the girl.
