[D4 LE] Hosting Duties (Lord Bromley’s Solar)

[Lord Bromley Meadows]

Bromley had retired early from the dance, returning to his solar. Thirteen years, and it still wasn't the same without his wife. He'd indulged a few of the slower dances, keeping up appearances for the more important guests, but his joints ached too much to continue for long. Seating himself at his desk and pulling some correspondence towards him, it had been rewritten in a larger hand from the original slips of paper that had arrived by raven, he struggled to read the tiny scribbles these days.

[Kylie Redwyne]

Claryssa raised her fist and knocked on Lord Bromley's door. "My Lord, my name is Claryssa. I am accompanied by Kylie of House Redwyne. Might we have a small amount of your time?"

[Lord Bromley Meadows]

The door is opened by a young serving girl, who gestures for Kylie to enter. Bromley, seeing the young woman, struggles to his feet, joints stiff and swelling after even the brief activity earlier. A fire roars on the hearth, despite the seasonal temperatures, and the small room is noticeably warm.

[Kylie Redwyne]

Both girls enter the room although Claryssa was not expressly invited. Kylie took her hand, hoping it would be obvious that she needed her friend's support. And Claryssa was, after all, still wearing the gown Kylie had loaned her for the Evening festivities.

The girls curtsied quite properly, Kylie having let go of Claryssa. "My Lord, we thank you for granting us this audience. We hope to not take up too much of your time, but it is an important matter to us." Kylie dipped her head.

[Lord Bromley Meadows]

He offered a pained bow, and indicated that the pair should take a seat, "of course, what can I do for you, Lady Kylie?"

[Kylie Redwyne]

The girls sat delicately beside one another. "My Lord, my guard has expressed - rather zealously - concern for my safety since the terrible incident last night. There are, apparently, a number of things that cause worry." She appeared to be navigating this minefield of a conversation as well as she could.

[Lord Bromley Meadows]

Bromley's aged countenance grew more lined, his thinning lips pressed together. "What happened was a terrible accident, there is no cause for any of my guests to believe they are in any danger."

[Kylie Redwyne]

"My Lord, either you are exercising discretion to keep the peace which is most understandable and commendable, or your maester has not been honest with you." Kylie started.

"I saw the stab wound myself, Lord Meadows. Now, there are a number of possibilities, but all of them have a murderer involved which means my Lady is in danger. Unless of course you have apprehended the person responsible." Claryssa spoke with confidence and respect.
