Twin Speak (D1, LM - Tremaine Pavillions)

[Mariessa Tremaine]

Rather than getting straight to unpacking her belongings, Mari flopped unceremoniously on the bed. ... Which was boring after a few minutes because she was all alone. Huffing softly, she got back up again and headed to the pavillion next to hers. She figured Jyn was probably unpacking already.

"Hey, Jyn?" Mari poked her head inside.

[Jynessa Tremaine]

As her sister had expected, Jyn was in the middle of unpacking her belongings. She looked up from her dress and gave a soft smile. "I cannot imagine that you have finished sorting out your belongings so quickly, Mari."

"Hardly," Mari giggled as she walked in... and flopped down on Jyn's bed instead. "I haven't even started yet."

There was company here so it was much better already.

"I saw father head out to look at the tournament grounds already... this whole thing is making him rather nostalgic, it seems."

[Jynessa Tremaine]

"Not at all?" Jyn asked, though she already knew the answer. She gave a disappointed sigh and continued to attend to her belongings. "Father ought to have sorted his belongings more carefully. That was an unfortunate mark on our reputation here." She shook her head. "I had to blame the commonfolk for that blunder."

The younger twin stopped unpacking and looked up to her sister. "I suppose you were careful enough, Mari."

[Mariessa Tremaine]

"Hmmm... I think it will be fine. I doubt he was the only one who brought his own lance for this." Mari stretched out lazily. She was always the more carefree of the two, even if that had taken a drastic change in recent times due to nescessity.

"Of course I was," she huffed dramatically, before favouring her sister with a sly smirk. "... But I am curious as to why you didn't want them rummaging through your stuff? Now what sort of secrets could you possibly be keeping, dear Jyn."

"We strive for excellence," she countered gently. She then let out a soft sigh. "I suppose father is renowned for his prowess on horseback. Perhaps they cannot fault him for keeping his favored weapon on hand during travels."

Jynessa shook her head. "I am keeping no secrets from you, Mari. I was stating only the truth when I told them that it would be improper to rummage through my belongings. But before I proceed, I will ask a question: would it not have been odd if only one sister requested they not conduct the search?"

Excellence was tiresome work. She liked it better when they didn't have to strive for that.

... Mari missed those simpler days. "True... if he's not boasting too much to us, he was rather good in tourneys when he was younger. You know, in the time before Aegon's Conquest," she made a small joke at their father's expense, but it lost it's fun quickly when he wasn't there to hear it. Lawrince would probably had been competing if he was still here, the eldest twin thought a little somberly.

"Mm," she nodded slightly, sitting up in Jyn's bed. "I suppose that is a fair point. Though, even if it as different, I don't think I would have liked them to go through my stuff anyway. Now, proceed?"

"I thought it was the First Men and the Andals," she added with a faint smile.

The younger sister continued to peruse through her belongings. "I did not want them to ruin my packing nor did I want them to suspect anything of you." She presented one of her dresses with a wider smile. "I was always told to keep one's apparel secret at these sorts of event." Her happy expression evaporated when she thought of who told her to do so.

"I appriciate it," she murmured softly, but clearly thankful. Her mood was dampened too as she quickly picked up on what could have caused Jyn to change so.

"... He would've probably jousted too at the tourney here." Mari added after a silent moment. "She would've been proud to see that, I think..."

Not as proud as father would have been, but. Damn, she missed them both. "So... uhm... would that be keeping it secret from me too?"

[Jynessa Tremaine]

"We are family. That is what one does for family."

Jyn grew more pale as they spoke openly about the deceased. Her mouth opened for a moment but then not a single word came out. She then simply gave a curt nod of acknowledgment.

"If it were, then I would not continue sorting my dresses in front of you," she expressed, though her whimsical tone was all but a memory by then. "The secrecy is for the rest of the guests."
