The following changes and restrictions apply:

Benefit: Blood of Valyria
This Benefit does not confer any bonuses related to fire or heat.

Benefit: Knowledge Focus
Characters cannot take Magic as an area of study. Topics beyond those listed in the book exist, such as agriculture, smithing, and so forth. Replace both the Core book and Errata with the following: You may use your Education Bonus Dice in the place of the selected Speciality. For example, if you have Education 2B and Religion 1B, and Knowledge Focus (Religion), you may roll Knowledge (Religion) at 2B.

Benefit: Maester
You must have this Quality to be a Maester. Maesters gain the Benefit Language: High Valyrian for free (see Languages). Taking this Benefit causes you character to lose any other Fate Qualities they possess except the following:

● Famous
● Greensight*
● Lucky
● Master of Ravens
● Night Eyes
● Pious
● Skinchanger*
● Warg*
● Warg Dreams*

Qualities marked with an * may arouse suspicion if it is known that your character possesses them, but this is especially true for Maesters.

Benefit: Man of the Kingsguard
This Benefit is not permitted for this game.

Drawback: Craven
When you select this Drawback, choose either Combat or Intrigue. You suffer -1D on Tests when engaged in the selected option.

Drawback: Flaw
Characters are limited in the number of Flaws they may possess, dependant on age category.
● Youth, Adolescent: 0 Flaws
● Young Adult, Adult, Middle Age: 1 Flaw
● Old, Very Old: 2 Flaws
● Venerable: 3 Flaws

Custom Qualities
The simplest way to create a custom Quality is to take the bonus/penalty from an existing Quality and modify the fluff text. For example: Maester Hubert suffers the Drawback Corpulent, imposing a -2 on his Health, identical to the Drawback Childhood Disease.

Alternately, you may use existing Qualities as templates. For example, Dutiful and Respected both impart -1D on opponent’s Persuasion Tests using Convince, Intimidate, and Seduce for the former, or Incite, Intimidate, and Taunt for the latter. Using this template, one could create the Benefit Stoney, imparting -1D on opponent’s Persuasion Tests using Bargain, Charm, and Seduce.
