Characters may attempt to spread a number rumours per game day up to their Cunning, Deception, or Persuasion Rank (whichever is highest).

The following Abilities and Specialities can be used to spread rumours:
● Cunning (Bluff, Convince)
● Deception (Bluff)
● Persuasion (Charm, Convince)

The Difficulty for spreading rumours is equal to the target’s Passive Status (Reputation). A character spreading rumours may take -1D to conceal themselves as the source of the gossip; additionally, you may expend Suspicion Points to gain 1B per point spent, but these Bonus Dice cannot exceed the normal limits on Bonus Dice. Spreading rumours does not require a timeslot.

Characters may attempt to track down the source of rumours with a simple intrigue, this requires a full timeslot. Treat your opponent’s starting Disposition as Indifferent, unless your character has any of the following Qualities:
● Attractive, Connections (Grassy Vale) - improve Disposition by one step.
● Foreigner, Maester, Pious, Sinister - worsen Disposition by one step.
Note: the above modifications are cumulative.

Roll: Deception (Bluff), Persuasion (Bargain, Charm, Convince, Intimidate, Seduce), or Status (Reputation), -2D if the source of the rumour is concealed.
Difficulty: Rumourmonger's Passive Status (Reputation), plus the degrees of success of their roll to spread the rumour.
Critical Failure: Your investigations lead you astray. You come up with the wrong culprit altogether.
Failure: You fail to turn up the rumourmonger. You may try again without penalty.
Success : You are able to turn up the name of the person who originated the rumour.
