House Meadows is more than two centuries old, having been founded in the years following Aegon’s Conquest. In this time it has seen scandal and decline, only recently turning around its fortunes with a great victory during Robert’s Rebellion, earning the family the Baratheon King’s fleeting favour.

Located on the Blueburn river, Grassy Vale enjoys a favourable position, sending goods downriver to the rest of the Reach. Much of what the holdings need can be found in the wide, flat farmlands, the lightly wooded Green Forest, and the bounty of the river itself.

House Tremaine
"Purity of Water, Purity of Purpose"

Lord: Marten Tremaine
Issue: Mariessa and Jynessa (twins)
Holdings: Riverrest
Region: The Reach
Sworn To: House Meadows

-----------------------------

House Tremaine was founded by a sworn sword to House Meadows, Osmund Tremaine, during the First Blackfyre Rebellion in 196 AC. Osmund led a group of peasant levies that successfully held off bandits and pillagers that had crossed over from the Stormlands into the Reach during the chaos of the battle, and he was rewarded with founding his own House, which would be tasked with defending the Blueburn River near the border to the Stormlands.

The Tremaines have always been a small family, and with limited forces, but their warriors are formidable elites, as Osmund's heir, Treyvor Tremaine, focused them into prioritizing skill over numbers. Their stronghold, Riverrest, stands alongside the Blueburn River itself.

Not long ago, the Tremaines suffered a terrible loss to their family with the deaths of Marten Tremaine's wife and their only son, in a fire that claimed several lives in Riverrest. Rebuilding has gone smoothly, but it has left Lord Tremaine with only daughters to succeed him.

House Redwyne
"Ripe for Victory"

Image

Lord and Lady: Paxter and Mina Redwyne
Issue: Ser Horas and Ser Hobber (Twins), Kylie
Holdings: The Arbor, Island off the Eastern Coast
Region: The Reach
Sworn To: House Tyrell

The Wiki Page

The Redwynes are one of the many essential sworn Houses to House Tyrell. Lady Olenna, the Queen of Thornes, bore two children - Mace Tyrell and Mina, who is now Mina Redwyne. This makes Kylie cousin to Margaery and Loras Tyrell. In fact, Mina's husband Paxton Redwyne is also her cousin, so the Tyrell blood runs deep, as does their devotion to the Tyrells. They have a long and distinguished ancestry, claiming to date back to a man named Gilbert of the Vines.

The Arbor produces the most succulent wine in all of Westeros, if not the world. Arbor Gold is highly sought after, but there are many other wines produced. The climate is almost tropical which leads to an exquisite variety.

It is also the cause of their unique fashion: clothing that is a combination of the Dornish and that of the Reach. The Redwynes are known to have hosted both the Tyrells as well as Prince Oberyn and Princess Elia.

As they are an island people, most know how to swim and sail. In fact they have a rather famous fleet which has protected the Reach in wars past.

Currently, House Redwyne is attended by Maester Kane who is not only proficient at healing the sort of wounds attained on the mainland, but has also become an expert on Maritime injury and what we know as CPR. He seems keen to keep his appointment as he tends to go above and beyond for the family. As Oldtown is not far, the Redwynes often see apprentices he takes under his wing sent to him by the Citadel.

The Redwynes continue to practice the faith of their forebears, worshiping The Seven. They have a large Sept on the island, but it is nowhere as grand as the Sept of Baelor in King's Landing. It is not necessarily a lack of Faith that influences this, but rather that The Arbor is named such for a reason. Any parcel of land likely to yield tantalizing grapes is highly prized. Redwyne children are sometimes raised with Septas and the family visits the Sept on a regular basis. Septa Adylaede tended the current 3 Redwyne children and she had her work cut out for her with the twins.

House Marten
"We Sally Forth"

Lord and Lady: Ser Leofwin Marten and Lady Adalicia Marten
Issue: Ser Leovall Marten, Loraine and Lukas Marten
Holdings: Leonart Keep, the Snout
Region: The Vale
Sworn To: House Arryn

-----------------------------

Only a year after the first Blackfyre rebellion the Vale was experiencing an increasing number of attacks from mountain clansmen. These dangerous hillmen had found a leader, one skilled in strategy, ambitious and a master of ambushes. Spotting a relatively small force of traveling Arryn knights and sell swords he had gathered his growing throng of warriors for their first larger scale battle. They had the weight of numbers and the element of surprise. Nonetheless it would be their last defiant act of violence. A gloriously unexpected if reckless victory in personal combat against their crafty clan leader saw Leonart, a simple sell sword commanding a small unit of mounted men, recognised by Lord Arryn. For his service and valour he was ennobled and gifted with a small strip of land by the coast, not too far from where the battle had taken place. Taking the name Marten after the small yet fearsome creatures that hunted the hills and grasslands of his new home, he soon adapted to his new role. Part of this was a clear direction; Leonart was also tasked with raising a castle to better control the surrounding region.

This would usually have been a huge and costly undertaking, but his Lord not so unkind or ungrateful as to give him an impossible task. Thankfully the area had a productive tin mine whose profits combined nicely with a initial sum from his Lord. This, as well as a handsome dowry from the noblewoman he had been hastily married to, was enough to fund the enterprise. When this grand keep was finally finished it cemented the place of the Marten family in the region. It also ensured the survival of Leonart's name as well for the keep was soon named after him for lack of a better name. Since then the Martens have ruled the area in and around the Snout; a small fishing and mining community beside a wide cove along the north of the Bay of Crabs. Nowadays the Martens are quite influential within the Vale, having some ties and agreements with more prominent noble families also sworn to House Arryn. However, outside of the Vale they are not well recognised, being a fairly recent dynasty who have achieved nothing truly noteworthy since their founding.

Most recently their main point of worth would be the port built at some expense to better facilitate tin shipments across Westeros. It also allows a safe stop for vessels traveling in and out of the Bay of Crabs. Those that do know the House recognise that they have quietly consolidated their position with admirable efficiency. Looking more closely, one might notice their military is relatively small, yet diverse, well equipped and especially well drilled. Furthermore, their strategically placed castle overlooks the village of the Snout, the port and the cove from atop a tall hill with steep sides to the south. It also uses the newest architectural and defensive developments and tricks, strengthening both the outer walls and towers, as well as making the main keep more comfortable for residents and guests. While the family is not especially wealthy, they are hardly poor. Most would agree their future prospects are promising indeed, particularly under the stable and thoughtful leadership of Leofwin Marten.

Leofwin and his younger brother Landon, along with their families, make up House Marten. Each has a few children helping to ensure the future of the family. While the family is primarily martial in nature, this is mostly because of the ever present threat of clan raider attacks and a slight banditry problem. Apart from these persistent issues holding them back the family are in the process of considering different options for how to continue their growth. They are known to be actively seeking further alliances and agreements within not only the Vale, but slowly outside of it as well. Recognising their position and the maritime connections it potentially offers to Houses further afield they are debating what to do next. It is likely that interested parties could help shape their future direction with the right approach or persuasion.

The Marten coat of arms depicts a raised golden portcullis over an angered marten caped in ermine atop a maroon field AKA Sanguine, Portcullis Or and Marten Statant Argent with Cape Ermine

House Feyther
"Flock Together"

Image

Lord and Lady: Barrish and Arina Feyther
Issue: Ser Bryan, Ser Caim, Alicent
Holdings: Seawatch, a coastal tower in the southern Westerlands
Region: The Westerlands
Sworn To: House Lannister

House Feyther has a relatively established House, born in the aftermath of Aegon’s Conquest – it does not know as history before the Targaryen Kings. A desperate Lord Bryce Faraday, watching his house collapse under debt and with only one daughter, Rosyn Faraday, agreed to marry her to an acknowledged bastard of House Velaryon, Vaelor Waters, in exchange for their debts being wiped out at the end of the war. It saved the house in a way. The lands survived in the hands of their bloodline, but under a different name – House Feyther. The new House fought for the Targaryens during the conquest, swearing fealty to House Faraday’s former lords, House Lannister.

Unfortunately, the stigma of bastardy followed their family even after the name change and things beginning to settle down after the Conquest. It was quite difficult to find suitable marriages for a while their family shed that image. Unfortunately, in 94 AC a serious disease ripped through the countryside that the Feythers oversaw, cutting the population by more than a third. It took the heir at age 20 and their infant daughter. It was only by virtue of the young heir having already had two children of his own that the House wasn’t wiped out then and there.

The following centuries since have been spent focusing on infrastructure and slowly rebuilding the House’s influence and fortunes. While they have a relatively small amount of land and only a tower for defense, their influence has grown considerably, with Caim in particular being a moderately well known as a skilled, if brutally efficient tourney knight. The House is now in a solid and steadily improving pace, looking to improve their defenses and expand their holdings in the near future.
