The year is 296 After Conquest. King Robert Baratheon has reigned from the Iron Throne for over decade, growing bored and fat. In two short years, the death of Jon Arryn will spark a chain of events that will tear the kingdom apart.
Although the passage of summer and winter are very different in Westeros, certain annual cycles can still be observed, such as the North’s infamous “summer snows”. The Festival of Roses marks one such annual occurrence, what one might describe as the arrival of spring. During summer, many flowers are perennial, but roses and grapes - the two most significant flora in the Reach - are not. The Festival of Roses celebrates the blooming of these flowers, an important time of year for agriculture, especially the vineyards.
All the information you would ever need on Westeros can be found on A Wiki of Ice and Fire. As such, there will be no Almanac for the Festival of Roses.
