[D8 EA] Round 12: Marten Tremaine vs Lorent Tyrell

[Ser Lorent Tyrell]

Facing off against the famous tourney knight was an honour, and Lorent raised the favour around his wrist to his lips, inhaling the scent of cinnamon that still lingered on it, before saluting to his opponent. He thundered down the list, his lance grazing Marten's shield hard enough to split, but not enough to destabilise the knight's seat.

Jousting was about more than just crashing furiously into one's opponent. Not that that wasn't a big part of it. But there was strategy involved, and as an experienced tourney knight, Marten was familiar with it.

And so it was that on the final pass, Marten held himself more carefully, seeking to harmlessly absorb his opponent's impact rather than cause maximum damage.

Lorent knew this was his last pass, the sweat was in his eyes and his shield arm hurt enough to break his concentration. He shifted high in the saddle, he wouldn't be able to keep his seat when the Tremaine knight hit him, so it no longer mattered. Once again, Lorent's lance hit just left of the mark, another glancing blow that did not affect the older man.
