[D5 LM] Tourney: Archery/Throwing

[D5 LM] Tourney: Archery/Throwing

Postby GhostWolfe » Wed Dec 20, 2017 9:40 pm

Marksmanship is a highly underrated skill in Westeros, where knights and bloodied greatswords are championed. Hunting bows, throwing axes, and knives have been made available for today’s display.

Roll: Marksmanship (Any), Formidable (TN12); alternatively, you may choose to shoot or throw from closer to the target, this reduces the difficulty to Challenging (TN9), but on success you gain one less Bullseye Point (minimum 1); hunting bows do not require 1B training.
Repeat: Make up to a maximum of 5 attempts.
Failure: You miss the target. -1 Bullseye Points.
Success (one+ degree): Robin Hood would be impressed. +1 Bullseye Point per degree of success.

Bullseye Points: The player with the most Bullseye Points at the end of the Display gains 1 Fame.

With a certain self-assurance, Rychard took up the hunting bow. The weapon had a lighter draw then the longbow he was accustomed to, and his arrows easily found their marks. Pleased with his results, he moved back, eager to see Liliane shoot.

It hadn’t been Lord Androw’s intention to participate in the tourney, but he felt his weary and aching bones could withstand a few handaxes thrown at a stationary target. To his satisfaction, each one thunked home, hitting the target with each toss. “Still got it,” he muttered.

Mari, still feeling out of sorts from all the oddities that had happened yesterday with men, decided to give archery a try. Not that she cared when it was suggested that a lady should try for the easier target, and she just went along with it. Whatever was going through her mind was making her arrows stray, much to her annoyance. She maintained a quiet dignity as she finished, clearly thinking on something else than archery.

The Vale bastard was not in the best mood this morning. There was something troubling him, and it showed in his performance. His first two shots lacked confidence and his third actually missed. He could not remember the last time that had happened. He took a moment, then, to calm himself and steady his hand. He loosed two more flawless shots and left the field without a word.

Lili, at least, would show the audience the skill of House Marten.

Lily took a long moment checking the supplied hunting bow as she watched Ser Bridges shoot. She had to admit he was good, she'd need to focus on being better then. Fittingly, she started her shooting with a perfectly placed bullseye. Her next four shots were less exacting but certainly did not sin by much. She frowned slightly at the final shot but it was hardly the worst shot of the day.

After the competition is concluded, servants hurry to gather stray arrows and throwing knives, painstakingly ensuring that the field remains free of hazards ahead of the remaining days' activities.
